Hi all

I'm having two main issues with my setup.

Firstly I can never access http://HiFiBerry.local unless I start a fresh install (i set up wifi correctly on the first install). It just hangs then says This site cant be reached. This is infuriating 

When I set the DSP to Beocreate in the user menu the volume is too low (playing through roon) the volume in the user menu is set to max (I've removed mute jumper). I choose the Generic 90hz profile and the volume and sound are better but I can't set the profile to stereo.

I'm slightly regretting this investment/project as it seems everything is unstable. I'm a beginner so if anyone can help please make it as simple as possible.

  There may be 2 causes for the hifiberry.local problem:

  - You might have renamed the system. In this case, it will use your name instead of hifiberry
  - You might use a Windows PC and did not install Bonjour. Windows can't deal with mDNS (that is used here).
    In this case, install Bonjour print services for Windows
  
  About the volume:
  - Did you check the Raspberry Pi limit settings in the sound settings. Probably this is set too low.

  Hi Daniel,

   

  Thanks for the quick response, I'm using a Mac and haven't renamed the system but the issue persists.

  How do I check the Pi limit settings? (Sorry this is all first-day stuff for me). I don't have the volume issue when using the generic DSP profile listed in the UI though.

  Hi,

  I can't say why your Mac can't resolve the name. However, you can simply use the IP address instead: http://ip-address
  
  The Limit settings can be found in the sound settings in the UI. There is a setting for SPDIF input and one for Raspberry Pi audio. What value are these set to?

  Hi Daniel,

  I can see three volume settings in the UI under the sound tab, Sourced on the Rasberry Pi, Optical input and an unlabelled one at the bottom of the page. All three are set to max.

  which file do you need? It downloads two folders each with about 14 files in it

  It should be a single ZIP file. Don't extract it.

  It seems that the volume control wasn't detected correctly. Try the following:
  
  - Login via SSH
  - rm /etc/hifiberry.state
  - reboot
  
  Then login again and run the commands
  
  cat /etc/hifiberry.state
  amixer
  
  and post the output here.

  Hi Daniel

  I have plugged in a keyboard and monitor, please tell me how to access the menus etc. It's just hanging on the HiFiBerryOS logo.  Is raspbian loaded on with the beocreate software etc?.

  Hi,

  you can't do this locally. HiFiBerryOS isn't based on Raspbian. You need to login via SSH. Enable SSH under General/Remote login, then use an SSH client to connect to the system.

  Hi Daniel,

  My problem is I cant enable SSH as I can't get to the GUI. All I see is the HiFi Berry logo......, Ive tried plugging in keyboards etc. Do I have to load additional software onto the SSD as well as the beocreate software?. None of this is very clear

  Hi,

  You need to install an SSH client on your PC and then login to the Beocreate system using SSH. The GUI isn't accessible witha local screen, you have to connect to the GUI with your web browser as you did it during setup.

  No, there are no other options. What exactly are you doing and what exactly isn't working.

  I think I'm going wrong on this bit...

  3. Enable SSH on a headless Raspberry Pi (add file to SD card on another machine)

  For headless setup, SSH can be enabled by placing a file named ssh, without any extension, onto the boot partition of the SD card from another computer. When the Pi boots, it looks for the ssh file. If it is found, SSH is enabled and the file is deleted. The content of the file does not matter; it could contain text, or nothing at all.

  If you have loaded Raspbian onto a blank SD card, you will have two partitions. The first one, which is the smaller one, is the boot partition. Place the file into this one.

  Ah ok, sorry, I have now enabled SSH via the web interface.

  Im trying to login via windows 10 and get this...

  Username is root, not pi. password is the one that you have set or "hifiberry" if you didn't change it.

  On the first command a space is missing between cat and /etc/hifiberry.state
  
  The second command is amixer not amixter

  Looks like you installed an incorrect DSP profile. Go to the web interface, install the Beocreate profile, set it to CX50 and run the dsptoolkit command again
