DAC+ Zero and GPIO pins connections

Hello,

I'm new in Raspberry and HifiBerry worlds.

I'v just bought an HifiBerry DAC+ Zero, and I made it working, connected into the GPIO header my Raspberry pi zero W. I've discovered the soldering for that pupose.

However, my project is to integrated the raspi and the DAC, and also using an LCD as output and one or more rotary encoders as input (volume, web radio selection, ...).

My problem is : what is the best solution to get access to my GPIO pins for the lcd and rotary encoders while the DAC+ Zero is connected ?

  HI

  I can't say what is the best solution, but I can see few.

   

  First, you can get a gpio extention board, on which the gpio is replicated 2-3-4 times, and thus acces all pins many times.

   

  You can also use jumping cables, (at least for your test) to connect your dac to the raspi using only the gpio pin used by the dac, then use other gpio for your other devices.

  some device had drivers, like screens, has drivers on which you cahn change gpio routing in order not to use the same gpio for two devices (except for power and ground), some don't, you'll need to pay attention to that when chosing your hardware/software

  I've just bought a breakout board for testing, something similar to that :

  For the final assembly, I will probably use this board :

  However, it's a shame that the DAC+ Zero is shipped with a femal connector already soldered. It would be more flexible if there was a option to have the connector not soldered, or with a male connector at the other side.
