Christoffer Sawicki Does the USB interface provide a mixer interface so that the PC can control volume?
-
HiFiBerry team Yes, volume control is implemented.
Best regards,
Daniel -
Christoffer Sawicki If I use the board with Amp2, how would I go about to make max volume on the USB side not equal max volume on the power amplifier side? I'm frightened of blowing my speakers and eardrums.

HiFiBerry team Hi,
unfortunately it's not possible to limit the maximum volume somehow. But in general, applications should not change volume without user interactions.
Also most speakers should be able to handle 30W power. With your ears it depends how close you're to the speakers ;-)Best regards,
Daniel -
Christoffer Sawicki I've previously experienced glitches with a USB audio component and macOS where the volume started racing higher and higher (or audio balance shifting by itself). The USB audio implementation was most likely buggy and it is unlikely your implementation has this issue but I would not feel safe without a controllable max volume as a safeguard. (I'm afraid of loud sounds making my tinnitus worse.)
P.S. Spotify on iOS has some really weird behaviour with Spotify Connect and automatic switching of volume. It's actually not unlikely I would connect my iPhone to the HiFiBerry AMP using the camera adapter. Others have had similar problems: https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Spotify-Connect-Sets-Volume-to-Max/td-p/855933/page/10

Rslatara So plugged in, get a green light but absolutely nothing in windows. I am feeling a bit depressed as I have also bought the case and pro XLR dac. I want to add I am an IT technician so troubleshooting for me is easy but the device is DOA, Windows does not see it at all.
-
Rslatara Works but needs driver and then when XLR dac is added it is not seen. Has anyone a video of this DAC working with the USB in windows 10?
-
chriswy Does this board works with XMOS evaluation driver under windows?
-
HiFiBerry team You don't need the XMos driver. Latest Windows 10 versions come with the drivers included.
Best regards,

Paul L Is the board no longer available?
-
HiFiBerry team Yes, we noticed some mechnical problems with the USB port and stopped selling it for the moment.
Best regards,
Daniel -
Paul L I hope it will be back, I’m interested.

Etienne Dubois Hi guys!
I'm interested in the USB Interface for the DAC+ ADC Pro, but the description does not list it as compatible. I read that both the DAC+ ADC and the DAC+ Pro are, though. So I assume the DAC+ ADC Pro also is? Can you guys please confirm that?
Is there any advantage using the Pro version with the USB Interface, and not the Raspberry Pi?
One of my uses will be a bit unusual. I will use the DAC connected to an oscilloscope in X/Y mode to display "oscilloscope art" type of music. For that it needs a DC-coupled DAC audio output. I seem to understand it is. Can you please confirm that for the DAC+ Pro and DAC+ Pro ADC?
Thanks!
Cheers,
Etienne. -
Lee Roberts Etienne,
I am using a DAC+ ADC Pro on the USB interface. It just worked from the second I plugged it in to a MacBook Pro. I have been able to record the output of a phono pre-amp without any issues.
Main advantage, for me, is being able to have it appear as a sound card on the Mac and being able to use VinylStudio to record.
-
HiFiBerry team Etienne Dubois While you can use the DAC+ ADC Pro, it basically acts as a DAC+ ADC on the USB board. You can't use the advanced features like input gain control with the USB interface.
While the output is DC coupled, the input isn't.
-
Etienne Dubois Ok, thanks for confirming that the Pro works. Since I'll be using it both on my computer and Raspberry, I still ordered the Pro.
I just need the output to be DC coupled, so it's perfect! -
Jonas Falk Hi,
yesterday I received the USB-I2S Board. I tried to use it on 2 different Windows 10 PCs, but it is neither recognized as an audio device nor does it show up in the device manager. I use it with an DAC+ DSP.
Any ideas on how to make it work?thanks & regards
Jonas -
HiFiBerry team Do you see any LEDs light up on the USB board?
-
Jonas Falk Yes, LED D1 lights up. The optical output of the DAC+ DSP glows red, too.
-
shanks I'm having the same issue with the USB-I2S Board I just received.
-
shanks Update: The issue persists across multiple cables and computers, including one with a fresh install of Windows.
-
HiFiBerry team I've created a ticket for this.
-
Ryan Is there any ETA on having these boards available? I've definitely interested... Where are people finding them, old stock? I would love to pick one up!
-
HiFiBerry team This board isn't available anymore.
-
Matt Too bad. This is exactly what I need.
-
shanks I really hope you guys take another crack at this board. I still have my non-working beta version and am slowly trying to learn/figure out how to make it functional. I would literally purchase a dozen plug-and-play functional units if you ever revisit this product. Wanted to incorporate them + various DAC hats into some powered speakers I've been designing (for friends/family, nothing commercial).
-
Thilo Berchtold Hi,
is there any intention to bring this board back into existence? I would love to set up my Hifiberry DAC2HD as a outboard soundcard for music production with my hifi system.
Best regards
-
HiFiBerry team No, there are no intentions for this. The board would not have been compatible with the DAC2HD and drivers development would just be too expensive for the small number of devices. We're thinking about alternative USB solutions for the future, but I can't say if and when we might come up with something.
