Sorry if this has been asked before but I cant find a similar post. I have a R1.5 HifiBerry DACbut do not have any idea of how to set it up in my v2 raspberrypi. Do I need to install and run any files or are they already in the latest raspbian OS. Please help a newbie to raspberrypi. Thanks

HiFiBerry team Hi,
just to make sure: Are you still using an old DAC (without the +) on an old Raspberry Pi with the 26pin GPIO header on the P5 header?
Best regards,

Steve Crossman That is correct. Old DAC without the plus and old pi, pre 40 pin header. It has the additional small header installed so is fully connected to the pi but is not picked up by the audio mixer, alsa
Thanks

HiFiBerry team Hi,
you need to use the "hifiberry-dac" overlay. aplay -l should then list the card.
As there are no mixer controls, alsamixer won't show anything.

Steve Crossman Sorry new to the pi. Where do I get the "hifiberry DAC" overlay. Can find no software or programming to install it on the site.

Steve Crossman I think I have found it. The config.txt file requires an additional dtoverlay=hifiberry-DAC line added and to # out the on board audio. Is this correct.
