Raspberry Pi 3 & HiFiberry DAC+ Pro with linear power supply

I'd like to use Raspberry PI 3 with a Hifiberry DAC+ Pro. Usually 5V/2.5 A power supply is recommended but I sometimes see 3A ones are also used. In some forums linear power supplies are recommended to increase audio quality.

So question 1 : I already have a linear 5V/4A power adapter, is it possible to use this ? Will it harm the board ?

Question 2 ; What's the audible effect of a linear power supply to a standard Raspberry Pi 2.5 A power adapter ? Or is this ever tested ?

Hi,

a more powerful power supply isn't a problem. You can use a 4A power supply without problems.

Some users might hear differences between different power supplies, others won't. You should not expect dramatic differences.
