Remotely Power Pi On/Off with Amp 4 Pro

Also, according to this page:

GPIO 3 (pin 5) is used by the amp "for configuration".  I believe GPIO 3 is the only pin that allows you to power ON the Pi (i know you can reassign power OFF).  Can I still use GPIO 3 to turn the pi on and power it down?  If not, do I have any other options for turn on a powered down pi via switch other than killing the power to it?
