Rpi5 + active cooler + dac

want to buy a rpi5 and use it with my hifiberry dac+. Since the rpi5 can run hot, I want to use the official active cooler which leaves the gpio pins free. But I don't know if I could still mount the dac without touching the cooler (I would like to leave some space between the cooler and the dac)? Can I use a riser header on the gpio pins to rise the dac? I've read a gpio exyention cable can have negative results, but what about a riser? Will it still work?
