copying files from mac os to hifiberry os using rsync

I'd like to copy music files once/night from my mac to my hifiberry os raspberry pi using rsync. It's extremely inconvenient to do it manually by unmounting the drive on my hifiberry pi, removing it and connecting it to my mac, copying the files, unmount the the drive from my mac and then plugging it back into my hifi berry pi. Currently I'm running a nightly cron job to copy files from my mac to another raspberry pi, and it's working flawlessly. I've searched the forums here and I can only find references to running rsync as a daemon in docker. I've never used docker and I've had no luck getting rsync set up on my hifiberry pi and I don't need it to run as a daemon anyway. rsync is not running as a daemon on my other raspberry pi that I back up to and it's running fine with no problems.

I would be running the rsync job at a time when I'm not using the hifiberry pi, so system load is not an issue.

Thanks!
