I have PiCorePlayer that I've been running on a Rasberry Pi B with a DAC+ for over a year, and it has been working just fine. I am running the latest version of PCP (9.2) without issue, and I should note that LMS also runs on this unit as well as the official Rasberry Pi touchscreen.
A few weeks ago I decided to upgrade from the DAC+ to a DAC2 HD, but after installation I had a hard time getting the Pi to recognize the DAC2 HD. The problem is that after configuring it as the output device and rebooting I would get a message saying "picoreplayer waiting for soundcard to populate...failed", and whenever that happened, Squeezelite would not run. Finally, after numerous tries, one of my reboots recognized the card, and everything worked. I assumed I had just done something wrong and all seemed well for three or four days. However, today I had to reboot the Pi and once again it wouldn't recognize the DAC2 HD. I spent a good hour trying to get it to work again, mostly by changing the output device back and forth between DAC2 HD and DAC+ just to force it to reboot and reconfigure. At last it started working again. Just to be sure though, I rebooted again; but unforunately, once again it went back to failing to recognize the card Another 45 minutes and many reboot cycles I finally got it to work again...which is how it remains.
I am now trying to decide whether to return the DAC2 HD and go back to the DAC+ since I don't believe it is going to be practical to use the HD if I can't get it to run reliably. But before I do, I'm just wondering if this is known issue or what I might be able to do to get this to run more reliably. It obviously works on my hardware, but I don't want to have to go though this any time I have to restart the unit. Thanks!
