RPi 5 and Amp 4

Hi there, what OS do you recommend to use for RPi 5 to use the Hifiberry Amp 4? Ideally I would like to stream audio from devices to the RPi5 and the attached speakers, using UPNP / DLNC, or sometimes Airplay.

As a second potential requirement, I would like to play local audio or video files using the RPi 5 and Amp 4.

So far I haven't had much luck with LibreElec and Ropieee; Ropieee seems to see the device but I haven't been able to stream to audio out of it; so far I am not sure if this is a network issues or a Ropiee issue.

LibreElec didn't seem to see the HifiBerry after their recommended changes to config. (I will raise this wiith LibreElec but would like to make sure the HifiBerry hardware is working first.)

  (I've got audio output on Moode now. So that confirms hardware is working.)

  LibreElec should work just fine. If video is required, that's probably the best choice.

  Thank you, LibreElec pointed me to your blog but note your LibreElec guidance page and also LibreElec's wiki regarding overlays are both out of date.

  LibreElec does not seem to support streaming to the device but does support local AV playback. At least, not out of the box.

  Link to the blog with the correct set up information. As you can see, this is different from the guide on LibreElec on your site, which is from 2019. This took a while to figure out!
