Although I can get my DAC+Pro and RPi2 to work with volumio 1.55 (Kernel3.18). It appears that there is no software currently available that can enable the inbuilt clocks of the DAC+Pro. I have found that updating the linux kernel and drivers produces so many new conflicts and incompatibilities (particularly with networking and volume mixer) that the software is unusable in any practical application. Does any one know of any current software distribution that works properly with the DAC+Pro? I only want to play FLAC files in highest quality.

HiFiBerry team Playing FLAC files should be quite simple with a plain Raspbian and mplayer or mpd. However, even upgrading Volumio or similar distributions shouldn't be a big deal. The mixer control need to be changed in mpd.conf, but that's a small change. What incompatibilities with networking are your refering to?

Baasheep After updating Volumio to the most recent kernel using RPi update or if using a fresh install of the most recent version of Raspian similar problems arise. Following the kernel update or in a fresh install of Raspian USB wireless dongles connected to the RPi can no longer make a connection (this can be reversed by removing 'dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus' from config .txt and rebooting: although the sound card is obviously disabled then). The hardware mixer controls also do not function. (I am not aware of the changes to mpd.conf you are referring to; are they documented on this site?). I have only been able to get versions of Volumio, Raspian or PiMusicbox with kernel versions of 3.18 or earlier to work. I believe that in these cases the DAC+pro does not utilise its own clocks and sound quality is therefore no better than the ordinary DAC+.

HiFiBerry team HI,
I wasn't aware of any WLAN issues in the 4.x release. You have this problem also with Raspbian? In this case you might need to use another WLAN adapter. Check out this bug report:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1250There is another issue here:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1234Until this has fixed by the kernel developers you might need to try another WLAN dongle or use wired Ethernet.

Baasheep Hello,
I,ve been trying to find a wifi dongle that does not conflict with loading hifiberry drivers into the Jessie kernel but I have not been able to find one so far. I have tried a few other common dongles but all fail to connect as soon as the DAC+Pro drivers are loaded in config.txt. They all work fine when the drivers are not loaded. I have also now become aware of some other other concerns with the DAC+Pro running under Jessie. The unit feels very hot and appears to be drawing significantly more current than it does under Wheezy kernel distributions. Also, the green light on the DAC does not turn off at power down (sudo shutdown -h now) as it used to do on Wheezy distributions. I must say that when using an ethernet connection, for example with Moode Audio Player 2.6, the sound quality is very good with the new drivers and Jessie kernel. Unfortunately I do not normally have access to ethernet!

HiFiBerry team This seems to be a very strange problem in your case. We haven't have any report about different power consumption on different OS releases. I recommend you report you report your WiFi problems as a bug report on Github. Then the main kernel developers can look into this:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues
We're have been using Wheezy for quite some time without issues, but I never used WiFi.

Baasheep Ive tried to use github but it won't let me submit an issue on a free account. Im certainly not going to waste more money on a paid account to report an issue!

HiFiBerry team You don't need a paid account to report an issue. Maybe you have not correctly activated your account.
