HiFiBerry team Hi Eric,
what kind of power supply did you connect? How did you connect it?

eric Hi Daniel,
I have connected this power supply Meanwell GS60A18-P1J directly to the Amp+.

HiFiBerry team Does the Raspberry Pi boot if you unplug the Amp and just connect the Raspberry Pi to a 5V USB power supply?

eric I have ordered to hifiberry the PI3 + AMP+ + Meanwell GS60A18-P1J + the universal case
i don't have the 5v USB power supply, i have another raspberry first generation maybe i can test with this one ?
do i need a sdcard to make the test, i mean without an sdcard the led status will be different ?
thank you, i will check this evening.
Best regards,
Eric

HiFiBerry team Hi,
without an external power supply it is hard to say if the power from the Amp+ is unstable or if the SD card is just corrupted. Does your "first generation" model already has the 40-pin connector (in this case it is a 2nd generation model)?

HiFiBerry team Another question: How did you install the software? What Raspbian version are you using? Older software does not support the Raspberry Pi 3.

eric I have downloaded th the image from this link:
https://www.hifiberry.com/files/images/raspbian-preconfigured.zip
tested on 2 different sdcard with the RC1 of volumio also.
my old raspberry doesn't have the 40 pin connector.
i will try to find 5 volt power supply this evening to test it.
Best regards,
Eric

HiFiBerry team Hi Eric,
I didn't even think about this preconfigured image anymore. This is very old and won't boot on the RPI3. Try installing and up-to-date system with our HiFiBerry installer:

eric Hi Daniel,
I would like to understand something please, without sdcard and installation, is that normal to have only the led red status fixed and nothing else ?
Thank you,
Best regards,
Eric

HiFiBerry team Yes, this is the normal behaviour of the Raspbery Pi.
