6515cg I'm using an old Apple TV for my next project: the Hifiberry TV with the Raspberry Pi and Hifiberry amp+, all connected with a 20 cm long 40 pins flat ribbon cable, the DSI 7" touchscreen, 500 Gb harddisk and a remote control. All inside (and onside) an old first generation Apple TV. Extern I use the Meanwell 18 V 3,3 A power supply.
I don't like the glue parts but it is just for prototyping.
More to come when I put the 7" inch touchscreen on top of the old apple TV and close it all.
Best regards
Ronald

scott ebner Looks great! I'd love some more pictures and more information on how your powering it all.
Good luck

6515cg Hello Scott,
Thanks for your interest.
It's nearly finished. My first idea was to include the 7" Raspberry touchscreen. But there wasn't enough room for it, so I'v decided to use a 2.8" Adafruit touchscreen. As you can see, it's works fine with Jivelite as the audio player and well with the volume control. on the screen. There is no need for a rotary volume control. Powering off is done by a Adafruit button.
My final task is to make a new upper front. The powering is a Meanwell power supply 18V, 3.33A for 60 W max. For the additional 5V for the USB Hub and the internal Hard disk of 1 Tb, I use a Traco Power (TSR1-2450) regulator.
Btw, its easier to use flat cables because it's working 'out of the box' but by using separate cables you don't need so much extra space.

scott ebner Hey Ronald,
I'm in a little over my head, but I guess I'm wondering where the regulator is. Are you splitting power from the Meanwell to use for both the amp and the usb hub. The Traco regulator is for downgrading voltage to the hub? Feel free to tell me to go read a book:)
