Hi
Recentely receieved 2 DAC+ to be used with on RPI 2 and one RPIB+. Both card are working fine with RPI2 but none on RPIB+.
I have tried both picoreplayer and raspian with squeezelite.
I have the different tutorials describe, but I cannot get the DAC+ to be listed nor the green led to light up.
I realize that it could be faulty RPI-card but will try a Q in this forum as well.
I have tried with enabled logs and get this output from dmesg (snippet that looks related - can share more if needed)

HiFiBerry team Hi,
what distribution are you using? Check out the "device not recognized" section here:
https://www.hifiberry.com/guides/configuring-linux-3-18-x/
Enable device-tree debugging and post the output here (see link above).
Best regards
Daniel -
Rikard Krisle I am running Raspian, Linux raspberrypi 3.18.7-v7+. (Also tried picoreplayer 1.18b and 1.18).

HiFiBerry team Looks good so far. If you use the SD card you used on the RPI2, it does not load the driver correctly on the RPI1 - is this right?

HiFiBerry team Hi Rikard,
everything is looking good. Unfortunately I can't say what might be the problem here. Are you sure the card isn't recognized? Did you run "aplay -l" as root?
Best regards
Daniel -
Rikard Krisle Hi
Will check again this evening, maybe start form scratch once more to see if I missed something else. What bothers me is that picoreplayer behaved the same and there should potentially be less hands on by me (where I could go wrong).
/Rikard -
Rikard Krisle pi@raspberrypib ~ $ sudo aplay -l

I am not that familiar with the commands you have asked me to perform, but is there any way to actually "ping" the DAC+ card? Or this is what "aplay" does? What does lsmod do? Check SW config?
/Rikard -
HiFiBerry team Hi,
there is no "ping" to the card. If the driver is loaded correctly the card will show up in aplay -l. As the card is working in the RPI2, the hardware is ok.
What is a bit strange is the number of kernel options given to boot:[ 0.000000] Kernel command line: dma.dmachans=0x7f35 bcm2708_fb.fbwidth=656 bcm2708_fb.fbheight=416 bcm2708.boardrev=0x10 bcm2708.serial=0x9b1e7293 smsc95xx.macaddr=B8:27:EB:1E:72:93 bcm2708_fb.fbswap=1 bcm2708.disk_led_gpio=47 bcm2708.disk_led_active_low=0 sdhci-bcm2708.emmc_clock_freq=250000000 vc_mem.mem_base=0x1ec00000 vc_mem.mem_size=0x20000000 dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=ttyAMA0,115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline rootwait
Did you configure this? Is this a standard Raspbian installation?
Best regards
Daniel -
Rikard Krisle Hi
I bought another RPI B+ today, switch the SD card from the nonworking RPIB+ (and DAC+) - worked immediatly.
It should be std Raspian, no extra configuration known.
Could be some hick-up the RPI card. I am thinking on returning it, but I can of course provide some more logs if you like. -
HiFiBerry team In this case, most likely one of the I2C GPIOs is defective. This is again something I haven't seen before ;-)
Thank you for the feedback.
Best regards
Daniel -
cpohle Just had a very similar problem trying to enable DAC+ on Retropie. It turned out I had to remove i2c-bcm2708 from this distros /etc/modprobe.d/raspi-blacklist.conf.
