Installing external RCA connectors

Hi.

I am fitting 2 RCA chasis connectors to a case, then will wire them to my Hifiberry Dac+ which will sit inside the case. I'll need to use approx. 10cm of wire, probably less. My questions are:

1. What sort of wire should I use, should it be shielded?


2. Should I solder to the L, GND & R pins on the DAC+?. Or should I remove the pre-fitted RCA connectors and solder to those pins?

  You can use the L/GND/R connector on the board. A few centimeter usually work well without shielding, but shielded cable won't hurt.
  Note that soldering onto the board voids warranty. Usually it is not a problem, but we have seen people that damaged the board.

  Success with a few centimetres of unshielded wire.
  
  I also discovered I could use the 5v pins on the DAC+ to power both DAC + Pi which is just what I needed to save space when squashing everything into this small case!
