Hi,
I am thinking of setting up a multiroom sound solution using HifiBerry Amp+ and A+ Rpi for each room, based on squeezeplug or volumio. Has anyone done this already and have you any tips? I have got one room working with both solutions and happy with the result, more interested in the best way to scale up will likely go with squeezplayer (LMS) rather than volumio for the multiroom
I am particularly interested in how to power the whole thing with 5-6 zones. Do I need a separate power supply for each RpiA+ Amp+ pair, or is there a solution for powering several from the same powersupply?
John.

HiFiBerry team Hi John,
the power supply shouldn't be too far away from the Amp, therefore I would not recommend powering several rooms from teh same power supply.

r0b Hi Daniel
As a follow up to John's question:
I plan to have 2-3 Amps at one location with speaker cables running to kitchen and garden (on 2 sides of the house). Is there a solution to power multiple Amp+ at the same location with only one power source? Or would it be easier to just use 3x GS60A18-P1J?
Thanks and best regards,

HiFiBerry team Hi Rob,
you can simply use a power supply that provides more power. For 3 Amp+, I would recommend at least 5, better 6A.
We don't have something like this in our shop, but you should be able to find this in on of the big electronics stores.

r0b Hi Daniel
Thank you for your quick reply!
So for example this PU (12V/6A):
http://www.reichelt.de/Netzteile-Festspannung/MW-GS60A12/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=2&ARTICLE=148081&GROUPID=4950&artnr=MW+GS60A12 (the title says 5A, but description shows 6A)
in combination with this splitter:
http://www.amazon.de/Splitter-DC-Netzteil-Splitter-Kabel-Security-12V-Netzteil-CCTV-Kameras/dp/B00PTPAL64/ref=sr_1_1?&ie=UTF8&qid=1435910226&sr=8-1&keywords=splitter+kabel+dc
Should work fine to power the three Amp+?
And if I should decide to use only 2 Amp+, a 12V/5A PU would be enough?
Thanks again and best regards,

HiFiBerry team Hi Rob,
it's hard to say. A bit reserve is always good. In usual scenarios, you will need only a few Watt, but if you have loud bass music running simultaneous, power reserve is a good thing.
Best regards
Daniel
