Hi,
I'm looking for some guidance to help getting my system working. I have a Raspberry Pi model B, with PiCorePlayer and a HifiBerry Amp connected to it with a 12V 4Amp power supply. The Pi boots up no problem and the Amp is detected and configured in Picoreplayer but when I try to steam music there are no errors but there is no sound coming out of the speakers!
I've run squeezelite from the commandine with debugging enabled and get no errors.
Can you recommend what else I can try to diagnose the problem?
Thanks
Martin

HiFiBerry team Hi Martin,
did you test the Amp before with another software? I just want to make sure that the hardware is working without problems. It is possible that the volume is not set correctly at piCorePlayer. I don't know the software very well. Is there a way to see the mixer settings?
Best regards

Martin Bramley Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried the Amp with raspbian following the posted instructions. I'll give it a try in a few days and let you know whether it works.

Martin Bramley Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. I've taken a fresh raspian image and followed your configuration instructions and have no sound when trying to play a FLAC file with mplayer.
I have also tried using the Test Tone image without any sound being played.
I've seen a suggestion in other posts that it could be a poor caused by poor soldering. I will test each pin with multi-meter. Do you have any other suggestions?

HiFiBerry team Hi Martin,
Unfortunately our current test image does not support the Amp, therefore this is not a good test. We have to update the test image.
Did you set the volume? By default, the volume might be set to zero. Please check the output of "amixer".
You can set the volume like this:
/usr/bin/amixer sset Master 70%
/usr/bin/amixer sset Channels 50%,50%
Best regards

Martin Bramley Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the prompt reply. You are a star. I thought I had set the volume with alsamixer but its definitely working now. I will once again try to get it working with picoreplayer.
Many thanks

HiFiBerry team Hi Martin,
good to hear this. I've moved the topic into the Amp section of our forum.
Best regards
Daniel
