Hey.
I just bought Digi+ from Your store. It is being shipped to me right now. I want to connect it to external DAC. This one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SABRE-HI-END-DAC-24bit-192khz-with-ES9023-WM8804-and-i2s-input-diy-DAC-/271259596887?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Amplifiers&hash=item3f2854f857
I couldn`t use I2s connection directly to that DAC from RPi beacuse of lack MCLCK output in RPi. Thats where Digi+ come.
1st. One output is toslink (black and white), what thing is that second output (whole white)?
2st. What is the best way to connect HiFiBerry with this DAC. I want internal connection without connector.
Thanks in advance.

hifi Hi,
Using the timezone difference I will try to answer your questions
before Daniel will do that ;)
According to Daniel when you are connecting to I2S in RPi you will
also need a driver for your I2S device (DAC in your case). See the
discussion here:
http://www.hifiberry.com/forums/topic/digi-or/
As you know SPDIF connection can be either optical
(black cubical connector with white "door" on Digi+) or coaxial.
The latter is that white round connector next to the optical one.
If you really want to connect your DAC using SPDIF (not I2S) you can
do that like I did that in my player (connected Digi+ to the SPDIF
connector on the back panel):
http://www.hifiberry.com/forums/topic/raspberry-pi-b-digi-player/
just solder two wires to that coaxial white connector on the
soldering side. One wire is signal the other is ground. And connect
those two wires to SPDIF input on your DAC.
If you don't want to solder you can create short cable with two RCA
connectors on both ends. One end you connect to white SPDIF connector
on Digi+ the other end to SPDIF connector on your DAC.
Hope this helps.

Mateusz Świątkowski Hey,
Thanks for you help.
Connecting I2S directly to this DAC won`t work. Understood.
No matter what then, my only possible connection with external DAC is via SPDIF (optical or coaxial). Am I right?

hifi That's right. Overall this is the main purpose of the Digi+ board -
convert I2S to SPDIF. It looks like Digi+ itself doesn't change the
audio signal (PCM) during this conversion. See the discussion here:

HiFiBerry team Thank you hifi, you're totally right.
Best regards
