Hi Guys,
I followed all instructions, and got the dac+ selected in xmbc, all i could hear was a loud static noise tho, after a reboot i dont hear anything at all just a few seconds of static noise during boot.
Also in aplay before only the dacplus showed and now out of the blue the normal dac is listed aswell.
card 0: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac], device 0: HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0 []
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: sndrpihifiber_1 [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dacplus], device 0: HiFiBerry DAC+ HiFi pcm512x-hifi-0 []
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
Any clues what i can do, or what is wrong, i updated kernel etc
thanks

HiFiBerry team Hi,
first you should remove the HiFiBerry DAC driver. About the noise: it seems, that the new kernel has re-introduced an issue with XBMC:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/681#issuecomment-56813563
Thre is already a fix proposed for this, we will follow this and inform when it is included. It seems, that XBMC has some issues with the 24bit audio format.
Using an older kernel release might be a workaround for the moment.
Best regards

antony.passemard I just installed my DAC (not the Plus) on my Raspi B today, and after struggling with the configuration a bit I got it to spit out... STATIC NOISE.. When I use aplay with a test file it's out cleanly so seems to be XBMC. I haven't tested old builds for this yet. But looking forward to a fix to come out.
Thanks -
HiFiBerry team Dear Antony,
the Raspbmc developer told me that he will integrate the patch in the next release. However I can't say when this will be available. To get up-to-date information about this, I recommend looking in the Raspbmc forum: http://forum.osmc.tv/
The easiest way now is using our pre-configured OpenElec image from here:
http://www.hifiberry.com/guides/sd-card-images/
For the DAC you have to change /etc/modules. YOu also need to disable automatic updates.

Jean-Baptiste HEREN Hi All,
Well, I just moved to OPenelec 5.0 as advised, and it works like charm after following your instructions
http://www.hifiberry.com/2014/12/guide-use-the-hifiberry-ampamp-with-xbmc-kodi/
THANKS
And its faster than before.
THX a lot -
sloader I just got my Hifiberry delivered and now on checking the instructions it seems it doesn't work with my version of RASPBMC.
I wouldn't mind moving to openELEC but I run the software on a USB stick as it is faster and more stable, doing that with openELEC looks a little complicated.
There is a new version of XBMC which has moved over to Kodi - this was released on the 24th dec. Does anyone know if this new version works ?

HiFiBerry team Hi Seth,
afaik, there is no more work on Raspbmc. The Alpha2 from OSMC (which is basically XBMC for Kodi) works with HiFiBerry products (we have tested it with the Amp, but I guess it will also work with other cards). However some things are still not working perfectly. E.g. WLAN is not working now in Alpha2 of OSMC.
Best regards

sloader Based on the website sam built a new version on Christmas eve which uses Kodi. I think I might try openELEC anyways as Raspbmc seems to be an advert for vero now.
Hi everyone,
Merry Christmas!
You may have already heard that XBMC decided to rename to Kodi in August. The next version of XBMC / Kodi (14.0) is already available and I’ve now had time to build that for Raspbmc. I’d like to thank popcornmix for leveraging some excellent performance out of this version as well as Martin Sundberg for taking charge of nightly builds while I was working on OSMC.
