Hi,
I got the DAC+ to partially work with Raspbmc (see my other post) but when it works I get the following problem: the DAC+ is connected to my amplifier, a recent model by Onkyo which has always worked fine. The only way in which the sound gets through is by setting Raspbmc volume almost to the minimum and to use the amplifier's volume control. When the music plays the quality is perfect but when it doesn't it results in some white noise (I'll try using a ground loop between the DAC+ and the amplifier). Otherwise I get just noise (if I put Raspbmc on a higher volume and the amplifier on its normal level). Is this normal? Do I have to configure something in alsamixer to have it work at a normal level?
Thank you in advance!

HiFiBerry team You can try loweing the Master volume with alsamixer. Full output is about 2Vrms, and it seems some modern devices are more designed for very-low output levels of mobile devices (<0.5Vrms).
Best regards

rajah Thank you for your very quick answer! I will try this -
Superkikim Hi HiFiBerry team.
I have now a working (almost) setup: RPI3 + HiFiBerry DAC+Pro based on Max2Play with Squeezelite and Jivelite.
Randomly, the sound works, or I get loud white noise. It seems to be a question of volume.Sometimes, when I lower the volume on JiveLite, the sound suddenly work. Seems to be a saturation issue.
I've been trying to set the volume differently with alsamixer. Didn't really help.
Therefore I wondered what are the different "layers" where I should check for volume settings. Might be a question for Max2Play team related to Squeezelite settings perhaps. But if you have an idea, let me know.

Superkikim Well. ... while I was writing, I updated the kernel. It was still 4.1.18. Uprading to 4.1.20 seems to have fixed the issue :)
