Can the Digi handle DSD streams from DSF files (if volumio can play this I do not know) and
I have DAC that has DSD capabilities?

HiFiBerry team We haven't tested this. However as SPDIF is designed to transport PCM data, I don't this this will work. What is your DAC and how does it transport DSD over SPDIF?
Best regards

HiFiBerry team BTW: If you have a player that converts DSD to PCM while playing it back, this will work. I think, mplayer should be able to do this, but haven't tested it before.

antoniodelrio to play DSD files using s/pdif transport you need to use DoP (DSD-over-PCM) and, of course, your DAC should have DoP support. LMS + squeezelite has full suport for DoP -
Stuart MacLean Hi Antonio
I am afraid to say I think the answer to your question as to wither you can play DSD tracks using DSD-over-PCM via your Digi board is no. In actual fact the use of DSD-over-PCM is not widely supported and is really limited to a number of specialized DACs that specifically support DSD audio as part of their feature set.
In the case where the software like Volumio says it supports DSD what in effect it does is write the DSD-over-PCM data straight to the DAC in the hope that it understands it.
