Is it possible to use 5V directly to the +/- points on the Digi board to power Hifiberry Digi and Rpi at the same time?
I want to integrate the Rpi+Digi in a Box. Is it possible to use the "digital out" points on the Digi board to avoid to desolder the RCA connector?
Thanks.

HiFiBerry team Yes, you can power both the Raspberry and the Digi from the +5V connector on the Digi.
Yes, you can use the Digital Out to add another RCA connector. I recommend using cables as short as possible.

Frederic Avenel Thank you for your answer.
There are 3 holes on the Digital out. Can you tell me how to connect the additionnal RCA connector?
thanks. -
HiFiBerry team Hi,
ground is the square pin (right), signal the left one. The middle pin stays unconnected.

a.astrov Hi Daniel
To follow-up on the power-question: can I this way power both Digi and Rpi using 3.3Vdc PSU? - I want to get rid of the Rpi's regulator and don't mind loosing its features that require 5Vdc.
Thanks,

HiFiBerry team Dear Alex,
we've never tried this and I would not recommend it. I can't say what happens to the Raspberry Pi if it is powered only by 3.3V. In worst case this could damage the board.

a.astrov Thanks a lot, Daniel
Just for your info, here's just one implementation of Rpi on 3.3Vdc

So, it should be running fine; and Digi should feel even better sans Rpi crappy regulator, no?
Thanks again,

HiFiBerry team The regulator on the Rpi is working ok, the noise on the 3.3V is relatively low (can't remember the exact figures). I don't see reasons to replace it. However, feel free to try it.
If you want to use the optical output, this WILL require 5V from the RPi as it is powered directly from the 5V on the latest board release.

HiFiBerry team Thanks again
No, I won't need the optical one. And yes, I'll give it a try.
Thanks,
Alex
