Has anyone experience with HifiBerry under Arch Linux?
I have just soldered my HifiBerry, but i can not make it work under Arch Linux. I tried it with PiCorePlayer, they worked fine, so it is not a hardware issue. Can anyone help me?
thanks,
András

HiFiBerry team Hi Andras,
we don't have any experience with Arch Linux. But I guess, you have to compile your own kernel for this. Did you try this already?
Best regards

András Szekeres Hi Daniel,
i haven't tried that yet, i hoped i can avoid it ;). I have not much experience with Arch Linux, but i would like to keep using it for squeezelite. I have tested earlier squeezelite with a cheap USB sound card on PiCorePlayer, Raspyfi and Arch and i found Arch to be to best for my purpose. Now I want to replace the usb sound card with HifiBerry. I think I will try to compile my own kernel.
best regards,

HiFiBerry team Hi Andras,
what was the reason not to use piCorePlayer or Raspyfi (now volumio)? If you had problems with sound on the USB sound card, this is not a problem with the HiFiBerry DAC anymore. If you don't want to compile your own kernel, Raspbian works well.
Best regards

András Szekeres piCorePlayer (the newest one included) does not work with my nano usb wifi dongle, only wired works.
Raspyfi: i tried to use squeezelite on it, but that sounded very bad compared to the other two options i was experimenting with. It sounded even with it's own player the worst (probably that was specific for my case, so this in not a generic judgement).
I want to stick to squeezelite as i use LMS (i use an Squeezebox Touch as well). I will either compile or by a supported nano dongle for piCorePlayer.

Erwan Loisant I got the Hifiberry DAC working on Arch, it's pretty easy now because the module is in the kernel. I don't think it was the case in January, you had to compile the module, so it was a bit trickier at that time.
Just follow these instructions, it's about RuneAudio but being based on Arch Linux it's the same:
