HDMI sound ok; speakers not ok

I have a new Amp+ and was able to set everything up nicely (I think). I now have sound through the hdmi cable; but not through the speakers that I connected to the Amp+. To be more precise - I've now hooked up the 'input' of my Niles SVL-6 - for the spects of that see http://www.nilesaudio.com/images/legacy/manuals/svl6man.pdf. Could that be the problem? Thanks!

  Hi,
  
  you need to configure your application to use the Amp instead of the onboard sound. What distribution are you using and what exactly did you configure?

  Thanks Daniel. I used the standard hifiberry max2play starter installation (version 2.23) and am trying to play things through mpd. I haven't modified the sound card settings yet as I haven't found the instructions for that.

  Oh and I also tried to install ampache, but the script runs into some errors with the dependencies. I tried to follow the instructions it gave (and the ones that I found on getcomposer.org), but I haven't been able to find the directory where ampache is installed (if it actually installed) - grep has been running for over an hour looking for it. So if you have any tips on that too, please do let me know.

  Are you sure that is the right url? That's the one I used to install, and I didn't see any instructions in there on how to configure the sound card...

  I now tried with kodi, where I could indeed easily change the settings to the amp. It might still be useful to add something similar to the sound card settings for MPD... But so it works now! :) And sounds great...

  I recommend to directly contact the Max2Play developers if it doesn't work with mpd. Maybe there is a bug. They should be able to fix it.
