Hi,
I am not sure if the AMP+ is the right Shield but I will explain my short Project.
My target is to build an Audio Player which plays Audio (mp3) on Raspberry Pi 2 and has the AMP+ to connect 5pcs 2.5mm Jack Connectors for Headsets (Mobilephone Headsets). The distance is 10 meters between the Raspberry and the Jack Connectors. Would the Signal be enough for that distance and multi connection?
Cheers

HiFiBerry team Hi,
the Amp is designed for loudspeakers with 4-8 Ohm impedance, not headphones. It's volume will be too high for headphones. You could use voltage dividers to reduce the volume, but the Amp ist not really designed for this use case.
The best way to do this would be the DAC+ and an external headphone amplifier for 5 headphones. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a headphone amplifier for 5 or more headphones.
Best regards

Anton (HiFiBerry team) I remember we had at uni headphone amps with 4 outputs, there are quite a few around. Right now I found also some with 8 channels, made for studio applications and probably more pricey... Maybe it makes sense to connect 2 cheaper 4-channel ones, where one of them should have a line through to connect the second. Not all cheaper headphone amps have line through though... -
karadayi Thanks for your replies. Do you know any Headphone Amps which I can use with DAC+ ??
What about the distance of 10 meters? Will it not loose on Power? -
HiFiBerry team 10 meters for headphones are not a real problem. The impedance of the cable is still much lower than the impedance of the headphones.
In general all headphone amplifiers will work with the DAC+. A short search gave me this for 4 channels: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HeadAmp4
Similar devices with 6 or 8 channels should also be available.
Best regards
Daniel
