I just buy new Digi but not able to bring it online.
Using latest openelec 5.0.3 with Raspi Pi2.
Dig into google and all posts on this forum without luck :(
.
1. Driver is loaded into kernel
Ras-Pi2:/etc # lsmod
Module Size Used by
snd_soc_hifiberry_digi 2791 0
snd_soc_wm8804 6603 0
2. Dmesg error posted.
Ras-Pi2:/etc # dmesg |grep hifi
[ 4.102472] wm8804 1-003b: Failed to read device ID: -1
[ 4.102495] wm8804 1-003b: ASoC: failed to probe component -1

HiFiBerry team Hi,
is this the full output of lsmod? Looks like a lot of modules are missing here. Do you have a blacklist configured?
Best regards
Daniel -

HiFiBerry team It is hard to say if this is a hardware or software issue.
I will upload a new test image that also works also on the RPi2 to check that the hardware works correctly.
Best regards

go_uros Yes, this would be great, tnx for the help.

HiFiBerry team Hi,
I've updated the test image. If should now also work with the RPI2. Please download it from here:

go_uros Hi,
.
I try this image but still no luck, not working.
No sound from the optical out.
BR, Uros -
HiFiBerry team What is the output on the console? What sound card has been detected? If it says "HiFiBerry DAC", there might be a hardware problem.
Best regards

go_uros Hi,
It looks like the link has been deleted.

HiFiBerry team Ok, the Digi isn't recognized. There could be some causes for this problem.
- unstable power supply
- defective Raspberry Pi (happens rarely, but we have seen this)
- defective Digi board
Do you have another power supply or another Raspberry Pi to test? Otherwise we need to test the Digi here. If you can't do any more test, please send it to the address shown here: https://www.hifiberry.com/shop/money-back-guarantee/
(to Germany if you live in the EU, to Switzerland otherwise). We will test and replace it.
I'm sorry for this problem.

go_uros Hi,
I check with more then 5 psu, but the situation is the same,
not working. I will send card today to your German office.

HiFiBerry team Ok, we will check the board here. I'm sorry. We will replace the board.

combatmuffin Hi. Same Constellation. Digi+ with the brandnew Pi2. Works fine, but only since I formated the sd-card completly. Without formating, there have still been invisible config-files, which disturbed the new Installation with the new kernel...
I am using Openelec 5.0.3. And I just edited the config.txt with "dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi". I did not:
- changed the blacklist
- changed the modules-load.d
- create /etc/asound.conf
I am not sure, if asound.conf is necessary. If it is, can anybody tell me why? I can't see any advantages for this step.
LG combatmuffin. -
HiFiBerry team Hi,
same constallation means your Digi is not working? Did you test with our test image?
Best regards
Daniel -
go_uros Daniel,
.
Can you confirm if you received my board to German office.
And provide info what was wrong...
tnx,Br Uros -
HiFiBerry team Anne from our German office will inform you when we receive the board.
Best regards

Anne (HiFiBerry team) Hi,
could you please send me a mail to anne@hifiberry.com with your order number, so we can easily recognise your shipment, when it arrives.
Thanks

go_uros Hi,
Issue was with the card, new one is working without problems.
Br, Uros -
HiFiBerry team Hi,
I'm sorry for this problem, good to hear that it is working now.
Best regards

hojgaard I am having the exact same scenario - except for the fact that i am using a raspberry pi B with Hifiberry digi. I have tried different powersupplies, distributions, and in the end i tried your (Daniel) sd-card image. All the same error:
snd-hifiberry-digi sound: snd_soc_register_card() failed: -1
snd-hifiberry-digi: probe of sound failed with error -1 -
HiFiBerry team What sound card is detected with the test image?
Best regards
Daniel -
hojgaard Daniel > how can i see that? -
Markus Schneider Hallo,
http://www.squeezeplug.eu/
Bis dann
Markus -
HiFiBerry team @hojgaard: You see it on the screen when you start the test image.
Markus Schneider Hi,
Gruss
Daniel -
Markus Schneider Hallo,
Meldungen beim Start:
aplay: device_list:252: no soundcards found...
No card detected, assuming HiFiBerry DAC
und weiter:
Sound cards

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: sndrhifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac], device 0: HiFiBerry DAC HIFI pcm5102a-HIFI-0 []
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
Markus
