Hi,
yesterday has been announced the brand new powerful Raspberry Pi 2.
Will the digi+ be compatible with the raspberry pi 2? Or we have to wait a new digi+?
thanks

HiFiBerry team Hi Tomasso,
we expect the board to be compatible, but couldn't test it yet. To be sure, wait 1-2 more days until we have the RPI2 here for tests. Follow us on Twitter or Facebook or check our new section regularly. We will publish the results as soon as we know more.
BTW: At the moment always everywhere the RPI2 is sold out, if you din't order one already you might have to wait quite some time.
Best regards

franz I'm quite sure you can use the digi+ without problems on the Pi 2. But i guess we'll have to wait for the first one to try. The major changes are the four cores, improved video performance and 1GB of RAM. Other than that all connectors stayed the same. According to this article "The Raspberry Pi 2 runs on the same systems as the Model B+, so everything you have for the Model B+, and older Pi boards, will work without issue on the Pi 2." -
HiFiBerry team I can confirm now that all "+" boards with the Raspberry Pi 2 B.

Gene Prosper Hi
I have a hifi berry digi+ and I was using the raspberry pi B+. I was keen to upgrade to the pi 2 because I like to use openelec Kodi and listen to Spotify directly thorough the operating platform but unfortunately the pi crashes often. I have just now plugged my digi+ into the pi 2 and taken the card out of the pi B+ and plugged it into the pi 2 and I can't get the pi to boot and all I get is the 'colour screen'. Is the software ready for the pi 2? and if not when will it be released so I can now use my upgraded pi 2?
Regards -
HiFiBerry team Hi Gene,
the Digi works without problems. If you upgraded your kernel, there is nothing more to do. However the "crashes often" looks like the power supply is not good enough. You might try a better power supply.

HiFiBerry team Another thing: The Raspberry Pi version of OpenElec does not work with the RPI2. You need to download the Raspberry Pi 2 version.

mr.fusion Does the new Raspberry Pi 2 fit the case you sell?

Thanks! -
Gene Prosper Hi Daniel thanks for your response. I downloaded the latest OpenElac from their website for RP2, works great. How do I now activate the ALSA so it switches on the Digi + ? -
HiFiBerry team @mr.fusion: The case works also for the Raspberry Pi 2.
@Gene: It looks like the device-tree-overlay files are missing in the latest OpenElec. I have to look into this in detail. -
HiFiBerry team It is not clear yet why the device_tree_overlay doen't work. I hope the developers will have a look at this soon:

Gene Prosper thanks Daniel looking forward to using when working. Is there any other distribution you know (similar to kodi) that works ? i'm not fussed wether its Open Elec or any other. -
mr.fusion @Daniel: Thanks for the information. -
Gene Prosper hi Daniel
your 'easy to use' guide worked wonderfully on my old pi:
https://www.hifiberry.com/guides/openelec-for-hifiberry/
any chance you can 'by pass' open elec people and create your own download for us 'non code' rpi 2 people!!
regards -
HiFiBerry team Hi Gene,
no chance of bypassing the OpenElec people as I do not have a solution yet. However I heard that the will be a bugfix in 5.0.2. I hope we can find a workaround before this. But it will need some hacking...

BerryUser I also have had some trouble using the Digi+ with the latest OpenElec Release and my new Pi2.
However, as Daniel already pointed out the overlay files are missing in the latest release.
After i have copied ALL of the overlay files (some files do have dependencies) to /flash/overlay the Digi+ shows up in alsa.
What I have done:
- Download ALL overlay files from here:
- Login to your pi using ssh
- mount flash drive with write access: mount -o rw,remount /flash
- copy all overlay files to /flash/overlays (e.g. using scp)
- add: "dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi" to file /flash/config.txt
- reboot
now "aplay -l" should list the digi+
However, I have no idea why it didn't work for Daniel. -
HiFiBerry team Hi,
check that the files are really the raw files. I made a mistake and did not download the raw file, but an HTML page.
Check out the command from this guide:

Gene Prosper Hi Daniel
Any luck with open Elac and rp2 yet? -
HiFiBerry team Hi Gene,
what do you mean by "any luck"? OpenElec is working with our boards. Check out the guide:

Jesus Lopez Bonjour Daniel.
