HiFiBerry team Hi,
unfortunately there is no easy answer here. I can't say if the DAC in your AV receiver is better than the DAC on our HiFiBerry DAC. The Digi might be better if you want to use XBMC and multi-channel sound. Otherwise the DAC might be easier to user with other devices (without digital in) in the future. It is more about personal preferences.

strangerng Hi Daniel,
is the sound of hifiberry DIGI better than the Rpis' HDMI in passthrough mode?
I'm asking cause I can't really get if the sound is sent in digital mode, how could it be different on the same DAC.
Thank you. -
HiFiBerry team If you already use the HDMI output, it most likely won't get better with the Digi.

strangerng Daniel, thank you for clarification.
Then I'll get DAC to have compatibility with analog amps.
I beleive DIGI will be great for guys without HDMI inputs on their amps.
