amp isn recognized after clean install of volumio

Hello guys,

I used my hifiberry amp with the recent volumio version 1.51 (updated from 1.50) until this afternoon without any issues.
After installing a new router I had some issues to update my NAS Mount within volumio and ended up in a clean install from the recent Image (1.51).
Unfortunately the amp isn't recognized anymore if I select "Hifiberry Amp" from the I2S Driver list like I did before.

aplay -l output:
aplay: device_list:268: no soundcards found...

If I select "Hifiberry" aplay -l output after the obligate reboot is:

card 0: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac], device 0: HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0 []

  Subdevices: 1/1

  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Obviously I get no sound output when selecting this entry.

I already tried to reflash the Image two times.

What steps could I try?

  Let's try t debug this. Can you please post the output of the following commands:
  uname -a
  aplay -l

  unfortunately I am unable to register an account at the volumio forum because my public ipv4 ip is reported as blocked. As my ISP (UnityMedia Germany) provides ipv4 ip via ds-lite tunnel, the ip won't change in near future.
  
  Back to the volumio issue:
  I chose the entry "Hifiberry Amp" from the I2S driver list. The Volume Control Mixer is set to "Hardware". As the amp isn't recognized, the Audio Output is fixed to "Nothing selected".
  
  The output of uname -a is as follows:
  Linux volumio 3.12.26+ #702 PREEMPT Wed Aug 6 17:43:49 BST 2014 armv6l GNU/Linux
  
  The output of aplay -l is as follows:
  aplay: device_list:268: no soundcards found...

  Hi Stefan,
  
  it looks like this is still a Linux kernel without Amp support. You should update the kernel using "rpi-update". Interesting to see this, as it looks like this should not work at all, except Michelangelo backported to Amp driver to 3.12.16.

  thank you very much, that did the trick!
  After the kernel update the amp is recognized and works as expected.
  
  Just to be complete, the outputs of 'uname -a' and 'aplay -l' are as follows:
