Hi,
could you please give me some hints on when to use DAC and when to use AMP?
I'm asking because I'm thinking about replacing the USB sound card I'm currently using for squeezlite on my PI.
Right now this sound card is connected to my stereo system.
Reading your web site I first thought DAC would be what I need because it is described as beeing a "a special sound card for the Raspberry Pi, that is optimized for one specific use case: the best audio playback Quality".
But reading the FAQ on AMP I read "For a complete stereo audio system you need the following components: HiFiBerry Amp, ..."
Now I'm a bit confused.
And one more thing. I was unable to find your FAQ using your web site's navigation. It seems to be well hidden.
Regards
Thomas

HiFiBerry team Hi Thomas,
the DAC can be connected to your existing amplifier. This means if you just want to replace your USB sound card, the DAC/DAC+ is the right product for you.
The Amp is a standalone product, you don't need the DAC or an external amplifier. You just plug the Amp onto the Raspberry Pi and connect your speakers directly to it. The advantage of this solution is that it is extremely small.
I hope this clarifies it a bit. If you need more information, feel free to ask.
Best regards
