Hi,
Doe anyone know if there is an audible difference between the Digi+ with or without output transformer when connected with the digital coax output?

HiFiBerry team Dear Rain,
there should be no audible differences. The signal quality is the same on both boards.

Jan van Rookhuijzen Dear Daniel,
I got my Digi B+ today. (with transformer)
Simple question: how can i see it is a digi+ with transformer and not a normal one? -
HiFiBerry team There is a small black component from Pulse on it. That is the transformer.

Jan van Rookhuijzen Thx Daniel, i see it.
I build the system yesterday, with Volumio, and it sounds great.
It also works perfect on my Beresford Caiman DAC, just plug-and-play.
Great product!

George Hulseman I just ordered the Digi B+ (with transformer), which I'm going to set up with the PiCorePlayer. My Marantz PM6005 amp has inputs for Coaxial and Optical and I was wondering which cable I should get for optimal performance. The Marantz uses the Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC and I'm eager to hear what it sounds like. -
HiFiBerry team Hi George,
with 44/48kHz files, both RCA and optical work well, but at 192kHz I would recommend to go for the RCA coaxial cable.

George Hulseman Hi Daniel,
Thanks, I believe the vast majority of my audio files are 16-bit 44 MHz. That's normal CD quality, right? So I guess I just need a digital RCA cable.
Sorry, I'm not too versed in these digital connectors.
I'm guessing I won't be seeing any benefit for getting the transformer version of the Digi B+. But presumably there's no down side either? Thanks for your help. -
HiFiBerry team Hi George,
in most cases the transformer version won't give you a benefit. But as you say - it doesn't hurt ;-)
Best regards

johhan Hello ,
I have a question...I see that your transformer gives isolation to main power.
But how about GDN on SPI and I2S lines. What use is the transformer if in fact the hifiberry wont be isolated because of the previously mentioned grounds ? -
HiFiBerry team The transformer isolates the digital SPDIF output, it is not used to isolate the I2S data lines.
Best regards
Daniel
