Short circuit on 8 pin plug per design?

Hello

I have just received the add-on board and plugged it on top of my Pi B, although I have soldered the 8 pins carefully to the board. After that I checked for any short circuits using a multimeter. I realized there is a connection between the two pins being close the label P5: http://pifflelab.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/rasberryrear.jpg

Is this per design? Aplay detects the soundcard just perfect, and it shows up in xbmc. As I currently have no device to test the SDPIF output I am just curious if my soldering went fine...
