Hello to all,
I have Logitech Media Server running on a PC and my Pi setup with SqueezePlug. I can do the whole Sqeezelite thing with the pi acting as a player to an amp, Android app on my tablet controlling the music nicely, but of course the output from the Pi headphone jack… well if crap actually had a sound, that would be it.
So I got the HiFiBerry DAC. It works with Volumio with amazing quality but what I need is Squeezelite and that’s a no-go. When I try to start Squeezelite, I get:
[16:53:07.832633] test open:124 playback open error: no such device
[16:53:07.839365] output_init_common:372 unable to open output device
When I do aplay –l, I get:
**** List of Playback Hardware Devices ****
Card 0: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac1, device 0: HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0 []
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
I thought my solders were good on the P5 connector, they tested good with a meter and I resoldered them anyway but with the same results. If there is a cracked trace on the board, I can’t see it but that could just be me. But again…
Volumio works great and so does the test tone for HiFiBerry DAC but the sound test in Sqeezeplug setup yields no sound. I can’t help but think it’s something with Squeezeplug/Squeezelite. I would love to get this working before summer is over and I’ve already been stumped for a while. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

HiFiBerry team Hi Steven
this is not a hardware problem if it works with Volumio. I don't have experience how to configure squeezelite.
However, have a look at piCorePlayer: https://sites.google.com/site/picoreplayer/home, you just have to enable the HiFiBerry DAC in the menu.
Best regards

Steven Spitzer Thanks Daniel,
Had piCorePlayer up and running in 15 minutes from downloading it to hunting for an old 512mb SD card to playing music through the HiFiBerry DAC! Sound is awesome!
Thank you very much.
