Hello,
I received the hifiberry and it sounds great.
Only thing is, I ordered the version with header soldered, but saw that both headers ( 8 pin and 26 pin ) are actually soldered.
Initially I wanted to forward the contacts of the GPIO connector to my breadboard via a cable.
Since the connector is there this is not possible any more.
I wonder what is the best way to proceed in this situation?
- Solder some cable to the needed pins on the hifiberry side?
- Un solder the 26 connector on the hifiberry and put the cable on the pi to the GPIO connector?
- Get the alternative header?
It would have been nice if the alternative header from your accessories would have been selectable in the config screen.
Greetings,
soundy

HiFiBerry team Dear soundy,
thank you for this feedback. The easiest way to connect additional devices is soldering cables to the pins on the HiFiBerry or the Raspberry Pi.
Alternatively you can desolder the headers and replace it by stacking headers.
We had more configuration options in the past. We still have the option to buy the board without any headers.
However, we don't recommend this. We have seen many problems that were caused by bad solder connection on these headers.
Best regards

ste.tesanovic So if understand it correctly you just solder the wires directly onto the pins of the P1 on the dac? Something like this http://i1.wp.com/www.crazy-audio.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/hifiberry-dsp-soldered.jpg (I know thats not a hifiberry dac, just took the best image i found of the process)? I would like to have a couple of rotary encoders and buttons connected to the pi. Is this the best way? -
HiFiBerry team Hi Ste,
do you use the DAC or DAC+? With the DAC+ there is a second row of pins that are connected parallel to the P1 header. With the DAC you have to do it as show in the linked picture.

ste.tesanovic I use the DAC, so can I use all the pins on the P1? Or is the DAC using some? -
ste.tesanovic Btw, there are some pins that look like they are parallel connected to the P1 on the DAC as well. Can I use those? -
HiFiBerry team Hi Ste,
the pins on the DAC+ (not DAC) are connected parallel to P1.
Best regards
Daniel
