HifiBerry doens't work

Hello,

I just installed the card and i have this message :

aplay: device_list:252: no soundcards found...

Yet before I followed the instructions here http://www.hifiberry.com/products/dac/first-steps/

Can you help me ?

  Please check that you have configured your system as shown here:
  http://www.hifiberry.com/products/dac/hifiberry-dac-software/
  
  Then run the check script.

  Looks like you're running a very old kernel. Update your system first, then update the kernel using "rpi-update".

  Maybe it works better installing rasbian from scratch from the current installer. Not sure what is the problem here, but kernel 3.2 is very old.

  I installed a clean version, and it seems ok with the command aplay -l
  But no sound, can be a problem welding ?

  Most likely this is a problem with the soldering on the P5 header. Check all solder connections with a multimeter.

  I have also a problem with my Hifiberry DAC. I'm using Raspbmc with the latest update and the card ist detected by the system:

  But I have no sound. Maybe I have a problem with the soldering connection. So I would like to check this first. How can I check the soldering of the P5 header on my raspberry pi with a multimeter?

  Hi Hendrik,
  
  you the resistance measurement mode on your multimeter and check the connections on the P5 header. Put one probe at the bottom of the Raspberry and the other at the corresponding pin on top of the DAC. This should help you finding broken connections.
