Raspberry pi 5 bookworm digi2 pro not recognized

I've got a raspberry pi 5 with the latest bookworm os. I cannot get the system to recognize my digi2 pro. I have read everything I could find in the knowledgebase, the forums, and followed the instructions to the letter. 

I've booted into hifiberry os (changed the "dac" to "digi-pro" in config.txt) and the digi-pro is recognized, so I know it's not the pi 5 or the digi-pro.

Please note that I've used both dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi-pro and dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi2-pro.
