Can I connect to VU meters (6-12v) to the 18V posts on the AMP4 with a buck converter in between to drop the current below 12v?

HiFiBerry team No. The output is AC, this would kill you buck converter.

Trying to find a way to incorporate VU meters into the project without adding "hardware" larger than the Pi itself :)
