I"m a bit overwhelmed with the number of amps. And have some questions when looking at the Beocreate
Do the AMP4 or AMP4 Pro and Beocreate 4 compare in anyway? What are the differences?
Why is the Beocreate 4 a 4 channel amplifier where in the Beovox CX50 only needs two channels? Isn't that a waste of power?
The Beocreate comes with 4 channels and an integrated DSP. Amp4/Amp4 Pro are just 2-channel amplifiers with no DSP (even though you can add the DSP add-on later).
For a pair of CX50, you need 4 channels - 2 channels for each speaker as the old crossovers will be removed and replaced by new digital filters running on the DSP of the Beocreate. In general you can do something similar with other speakers. However, creating the correct crossovers isn't trivial. For best results, measurement equipment (and know-how) is needed.
If you have a pair of old speakers you're happy with and you don't want to completely modify these, the Amp4(Pro) is a good choice.
ah thanks! I see in https://www.hifiberry.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/CX_50.pdf that only two of the four outputs are used.🤔 shouldn't the instructions somehow suggest to use all connections? (push-pull)
This is for a single speaker. You can use the other 2 outputs for the second speaker.
I see. But that raises another question. How to connect the second, passive CX50? in the instructions the speaker connector of the active is removed.
