Audio Quality

I have an amp4, HiFi berry os with excellent piega s4 speakers connected. From any source (stream, usb (lossless) or airplay (lossless) I am not convinced by the audio quality. It sounds dull with missing heights. I can not change any settings. Can you help?

  I'm sorry, but I can't. I can't see this with any of our Amps. The frequency response is very linear, we don't see any missing heights. Unfortunately I don't know what might be causing this in your setup.

  Should I buy an DSP Add-on board to improve the quality?

  Soundcard: DAC+/AMP2 (Hardware is AMP4)

  Soundcard ID: 0

  aplay 1: card 0 sndrpihifiberry [HiFiBerry DAC+ HiFi pcm512x-hifi-0]

  Mixer: Digital

  Features: pi localui pi3orlater arm7

  Is there anything wrong in the settings?

  The DSP add-on will allow you to add extra filters. However the frequency response of the Amp is already very linear in the audible frequency range. Sure you can add some more high frequencies with the DSP add-on, but the Amp shouldn't sound "dull" without it. The settings are just fine. There are no settings in the driver that will impact the frequency response of the Amp.
