I've just purchased the HD and using the berry image its working on the pi4.
Apart from the slow interaction when I review some of the options the screen image fills the display and I cannot simply go back - the only way I've achieved this is to reboot the pi.to get to the home screen.
What documentation is available to improve my understanding of the software and link to usb drives etc. or do i need to go straight to noon?
Where do you want to go "back"? There shouldn't be the need to go back as all stuff is directly available via the menu. There is no additional documentation available.
Note that HiFiBerryOS can handle music on USB drives, but that's not the recommended use case. We strongly recommend to store your local music on a NAS.
Hi, when selecting the options for the supported services/streams I cannot "go back" to the previous menu, its nomal to have a browser back option but I cant find it!!
There is no browser back button as you don't need one. If an upper menu is available you can click on the "<" in the left menu.
Some misinterpretation here. I was using the features (browser) within the Pi and there is no back button once you access those options. However, now I'm on my laptop and logged onto hifiberry/local via chrome I can use normal browser controls (and its much faster) to access all pages (android mobile phone browser does not connect). The issue now is that having set a radio station playing through the network, because I have fast internet I get much better sound through my hifi, once I close my laptop lid (sleep) the station goes off!!!!!! How do I ensure the music keeps playing as I don't want or need to keep my laptop on and hence the browser open as this negates the low power aspects and benefit of the player.
No, there is no misunderstanding. There is no "back" button. You simply have to click on the "<".
Also the whole functionality still works if you close your browser.
What software are you using? I get the feeling, you're not using HiFiBerryOS, but some other distribution.
I'll try and provide a image but I've not seen the "<" but I'll review again. I'm not too concerned now as I'm controlling it externally with a laptop - but it does beg the question why not an app on a phone?? Its for information.
I have downloaded the HiFiBerry OS img, from your site and that's what I boot from on the card.
I use a wni10 laptop running chrome and I've successfully got the OS to scan a pendrive and played music. I've also navigated to the radio source and streamed a station. I can check and update the software too.
I noticed that its got some beta areas like the radio. But when I close the laptop the stream stops so I'll keep trying to clear the issue - somehow.
The problem was display clipping. I've connected the pi4 to a 4k TV and the full functionality of the inbuilt browser is now available and its faster. I've not changed any settings but am pleasantly surprised at the improved performance. It also now displays an image of the album (usb) but not on all tracks so I must need to associate the image with other tracks too. I'll also look to improve cables and a better psu to reduce the noise floor. Still not understood why the laptop when closed would stop the pi from playing but perhaps its due to the Bluetooth closing? I'll look at the remote option as that gets around driving the options and channels with a mouse.
