Cambridge Audio CXA60 with Wolfson WM8740 or HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro

I'm planning to build a high-res music streamer. Raspberry seems an easy and cheap solution withHiFiBerry solutions.

My first idea was use HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro with toslink optical cable into my Cambridge Audio CXA60 which got a Wolfson WM8740. But then I was thinking maybe there is a better DAC option in my situation.

So I checked the HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro which seems a really good DAC from the spec with PCM5122. Also I never had any DAC with this chip.

Is there anyone who has an experience with PCM5122 and WM8740 too?

  I am using for the moment the WM8740 on CXA60 with Digi+ and just bought the DAC+  PRO to see the difference. just got the board some days ago and will start soon the project. please post your progress so we can compare.

  Really happy because someone else trying to use this with same setup. Currently I'm trying to create a tidal hi-res plugin, to test the system. What speakers have you got?

  i am using monitor audio bronze 5. my source are MP3 and flac... haven't tried yet tidal.

   

  i use runeaudio, on a raspberry 2 to which i also added a touch screen.

  source is a USB external HDD.
