Ok, I'm looking to build a radio for my vehicle. I was already looking at the Ras Pi 3, the hifiberry pro, a 7" monitor and a shell. I'm kinda new to this though. I know I'd get Bluetooth and wifi with the Pi 3 and the hifi will give me optical out that I want. I'd like to be able to have GPS, Radio, USB music playback. I've seen the Adafruit Ultimate GPS hat, but it doesn't look like it is compatible with the Pi3.
So what all do I need to do this? Thanks for the help

unfortunately I don't know a specific GPS model that will work. However, usually these communicate via the serial port and therefore basically everything that is powerd by 5V and is using 3.3V IO signals should work. Check out the data sheets of different projects.
In general I would say this isn't a beginners project what you're trying to do. You will need electronics skills, but you will also need a lot of Linux know-how as you won't simply find a software that does what you want to achieve. You will have to combine a lot of different software packages. I would only recommend this to an experiences Linux administrator.
