Recording with DAC+ADC Pro

Hi all. The below set up is my attempt to direct the analogue output of my turntable to the DAC+ADC Pro and turn it into a digital signal that can be fed into my amp and on to loudspeakers. Is it workable ?

The turntable has a preamp. Sound is being produced from the speakers. Quality is unknown at the moment.

HiFiBerry is configured Sources>Analogue > On . I have an alias for Phono.

How could I improve this config? Output from the turntable is the twin coax (shiny) cable. There is no alternative. The earth wire sits on the deck nearby. The wires from red and white connectors go to my amp. Board is powered from the Pi.

  Hardware is RasbPi 4 with the DAC+ADC Pro. The system does work. Sound is produced. I can listen to LP records. I am hoping to benefit from the Analogue > Digital conversion done by the board. More experimenting is needed.

  My plan is not necessarily to use Arecord  software on the Pi to record Albums, but to feed the sound into my laptop and use something like Audacity. Is there any downside to this?

  The recording itself will alway be done on the Pi, even if you edit the files later on your PC. You can also uise Audacity on the Pi. 
  I would just use arecord (or some other simple command line tool) to record a whole side and edit it later in Audacity (doesn't really matter if on the Pi or the PC, but PC is probably faster).

  Thanks for your comments. Does the DAC+ADC Pro have an earth pin that could be used to connect the loose cable from the Turntable? I may be able to rig something to improve the Turntable > DAC+ADC Pro.

  The 2 into 1 connector (jack) into the board (input) seems amateurish but it is all I can think of atm. Have you seen any illustrations of how others are using the board?

  If the turntable has a preamp, this should be connected to GND already. Instead of a cable with RCA jacks, you can just use a cable with a 3.5mm phone jack. This way you don't need the adapter. That's what most users do.

  Re HiFiBerry OS

  I felt sure that selecting the "Analogue"  check box  would be necessary when recording from a turntable. Can you clarify this for me? If this is not the case when is "Analogue" and "Auto" used?

  The input in the GUI is only for the playback. If you want to record audio locally, you have to disable this. Otherwise the input will be used already for the analogue audio playback.
