I have just set up the HifiBerry DAC+ADC on Rasperry Pi4. Without an amplifier, I will not be able to get an audio output. My question is:
Is it possible to use the HifiBerry as an ADC input, digitize the audio input and listen to the processed audio on the Raspberry audio output port (Jack socket)after progressing?
So basically use the HifiBerry DAC+ADC, as just an ADC.

Theoretically yes, if you configure both sound cards. However, I'm not sure why you want to do this. The onboard sound also doesn't have an amplifier integrated and the sound quality is poor.
Thanks, I waited a month to receive the board and when I did, I found out that I need an external OpAmp(Which should have been clear on the product page). I need an ADC to feed the audio to Raspberry Pi4. The onboard sound card on the Raspberry Pi4 isn't that bad.
How can I configure to use just the ADC? I tried to find the schematic for the HifiBerry DAC+ADC but can't find anything. Any chance you can give me some guidance?

What do you need an external OpAmp for? The output is a standard line-level output.
You don't have to configure anything to "just use the ADC", just use it and don't output anything. There is no specific configuration needed.
We don't provide schematics as these are not needed to use our boards.
If you want to use the onboard sound, you just have to cofnigure it. Then check out the documentation of the software you're using how to use different sound interfaces for recording and playback.
What do you need an external OpAmp for? I was told by your team back in March that "headphones are not a good tool to test as there is no headphone amplifier. Connect an amplifier or an active speaker to the RCA output".
Regarding "just using ADC"; is the ADC connected to any specific GPIO pin on the Raspberry Pi? Are there any specific libraries for the Hifiberry ADC that I can add and read the data?
If you want to connect headphones, you should use an external headphone amplifier. That's correct.
All our boards use the ALSA API. Every program that supports the ALSA API can use it. Some simple command line tools are shown here:

Now my question is; when I installed the board, the instructions said that I needed to disable all the other soundcards using "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d,noaudio"
Am I still able to use the Raspberry Pi output ports? Because the command above disabled all other sound cards, no?
While you can enable the onboard sound, you need to configure your software correctly to use the right card. Many applications just use the default sound card. Therefore we don't recommend to have both enabled. It complicates things a lot.
Are there any library functions or modules that I can use to communicate directly with the ADC, i.e reading the value from the ADC? Which GPIO pin the ADC is connected to so maybe I can read the value from the pin? Is there a schematic of the HifiBerry board?
You can't read the value from a pin and your also can't read just a single sample. That is an audio DAC that uses the ALSA API. Just google ALSA programming and you'll find lots of examples. Also check the link above how to do a simple recording with arecord/aplay

inp = audio.PCM(audio.PCM_CAPTUR,device='sndrpihifiberry', mode.........)But it keeps complaining that the name "sndrpihifiberry" is not defined.
When I type the Aplay- L on the terminal, I see

So what should be the device name becuase it doesn't recognise the names I get when I type aplay-L
I tried CARD or HiFiBerry but same result. Doesnt recognise the names.

May I remind you that this is an installation question NOT code development? I can not get the device working, SIMPLE.
Every other device comes with library codes to access its peripherals and yours doesn't. The datasheet is too vague, you don't supply schematics, my impression is that you guys even don't know to install it and use it. I also would like to remind you that it is an expensive product with ZERO support.

No, it doesn't come with a library as ALSA is the standard library for audio under Linux. If you want to use the ALSA API in your own code (that's what you're doing), please use the ALSA documentation:
