DIGI2 Pro GPIO Pin Conflicts

Greets,

Two related questions:

- I'm running a PiSugar 3 UPS along with the Digi2 Pro; both devices access GPIO 2 and 3... I see a potential conflict. Should I be worried and if so are there ways around it? I need a UPS since I'm in an area with frequent power disruptions.

- I'd like to install a physical power button and have been pointed to pins 39 and 40 (GPIO 21). If I'm using a momentary pushbutton to shut off and turn on the Pi could that impact the Digi2 Pro?

Thanks you help with this... my last hurdle (I think!).

  As shown on the GPIO documentation, we can't guarantee compatibility with any other hardware - especially not if they are using the same GPIOs. The best you can do is try by yourself.

  Yes, I've read the documentation - your response is not helpful. You're basically saying "you're on your own". You've designed a product that will find itself in a variety of configurations. You're using GPIO pinouts you know are used by many other manufactures. Did you test your hardware and software in various configurations to determine impacts?... or are you waiting for users to figure it out for you? If the latter, you have an experiment, not a product. Maybe another HiFiBerry tech support person can answer my questions in a more helpful manner that actually knows what they're talking about.

  Ok, in this case let me repeat the first point from the documentation:

  • We do not guarantee interoperability with any other add-on card. Even if another card is not using the same GPIOs, there are many other things that might prevent interoperability. The Raspberry Pi GPIOs are not designed as a bus system (even the I2C bus can’t be simply used by multiple cards as there might or might not be the right pull-up resistors on every I2C slave).

   

  We designed a product that's NOT designed to by used in "a variety of configurations". You plan to use it in a way that it's not designed for. Therefore, yes, you're on your own.

  Nonsense, and incredibly arrogant. Where in your literature do you describe the configurations where your wonderful product can be used and those configurations where it cannot be used? You don't provide such detail leaving it to buyers to guess... again. What I've learned is that you simply don't care and that renders your product useless.

  It's truly amazing that a European manufacturer can't manage to support buyers, instead parroting a bunch of nonsensical corporate disclaimers. Meanwhile, the same questions posted to a Chinese company returned a response in under an hour that accurately addressed my questions in great detail. That's truly pathetic.

  No need to respond - I no longer own your product and I'll advise many others will follow my lead.
